FK Teplice - FK Dukla Praha

Sunday's clash between FK Teplice and FK Dukla Praha will kick off the battles in the Chance Liga relegation round. While the home side Teplice has extensive experience with the playoff format, Prague's Dukla returns to this stage after a six-year absence.

FK Teplice will play their fourth relegation round in the Chance Liga, but this time they enter with the highest point total of all four seasons (34; compared to 32 in 2022-23, 27 in 2021-22, and 31 in 2019-20). The "Glassmakers" remain unbeaten in opening matches of relegation rounds (2 wins, 1 draw), having won last season's first match at home against Pardubice 1-0.

FK Dukla Praha experienced the first season after the league reform and played in the very first relegation round ever, ultimately being relegated as the worst team of the 2018-19 season. Dukla collected just two points from two draws in that 2018-19 relegation round. Interestingly, they have also taken two points from two 1-1 draws against Teplice in this Chance Liga season.

Teplice can rely on their ability to score in the closing minutes of matches. Mohammed Yasser scored a goal at 87:26 in the last Chance Liga matchday against Hradec Králové. No team has scored as many goals after the 85th minute this season as Teplice (11), with five of those being winning goals (the most of any team) and another two being equalizers, including one on matchday 25 at Dukla.

FK Dukla Praha, on the other hand, struggles offensively, especially away from home. On the last Chance Liga matchday, Dukla scored more than one goal in an away game (2) for the first time this season and for the first time overall since May 2019, when they scored twice in Příbram. Dukla (9) has the second-fewest away goals this season after České Budějovice (8) and has only had fewer at this stage of a season in 2018-19 (7; also 9 in 1993-94).

An interesting note is that Jhon Mosquera scored a goal on the last Chance Liga matchday at the age of 34 years and 346 days, becoming the fifth different Dukla goalscorer aged 34 or older on the day of scoring. No team in this Chance Liga season has more than two such goalscorers.

Sunday's match between these traditional Czech clubs offers a clash between a team that knows how to decide matches in the final minutes against a squad with experienced players that nevertheless struggles to score away from home.
