DEBUT IN VENEZUELA: DEFENDING CHAMPIONS BOTAFOGO HEAD INTO UNCHARTED WATERS AGAINST CARABOBO

Image
May 6, 2025 Carabobo - Botafogo Polideportivo de Valencia, Venezuela Defending Copa Libertadores champions Botafogo from Brazil are preparing for a historic match. On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, they will make their first-ever appearance on Venezuelan soil, facing local side Carabobo FC in the group stage of South America's most prestigious club competition. Carabobo have managed to keep only two clean sheets in their 11 Copa Libertadores matches to date. One of these instances occurred during the only time the Venezuelan team hosted a Brazilian opponent in this competition (0-0 against Atlético Mineiro in 2023). Venezuelan teams have performed quite respectably in home games against Brazilian opponents in the Copa Libertadores - in the last 10 such matches, they have avoided defeat in more than half of the cases (1 win, 5 draws, 4 losses). The only Venezuelan victory during this period was recorded by Deportivo Táchira against Internacional in May 2021 (2-1). For Botafogo, this...

TEPLICE ENTER RELEGATION ROUND WITH RECORD POINTS, DUKLA RETURNS AFTER SIX YEARS

April 27, 2025 FK Teplice - FK Dukla Praha Sunday's clash between FK Teplice and FK Dukla Praha will kick off the battles in the Chance Liga relegation round. While the home side Teplice has extensive experience with the playoff format, Prague's Dukla returns to this stage after a six-year absence. FK Teplice will play their fourth relegation round in the Chance Liga, but this time they enter with the highest point total of all four seasons (34; compared to 32 in 2022-23, 27 in 2021-22, and 31 in 2019-20). The "Glassmakers" remain unbeaten in opening matches of relegation rounds (2 wins, 1 draw), having won last season's first match at home against Pardubice 1-0. FK Dukla Praha experienced the first season after the league reform and played in the very first relegation round ever, ultimately being relegated as the worst team of the 2018-19 season. Dukla collected just two points from two draws in that 2018-19 relegation round. Interestingly, they have also ...

LATE DRAMA AT GOODISON PARK: UNDERMANNED EVERTON PREPARES TRAP FOR UNBEATEN GUNNERS

Image
Everton – Arsenal April 5th, 2025 Goodison Park used to be a cursed place for Arsenal. The Gunners have won only three of their last 26 away matches on Merseyside against local clubs (Everton and Liverpool), which is an alarming contrast to their previous record when they managed to win six out of seven visits. Last season, however, Arsenal finally broke the curse and won 1-0 at Everton's ground. The mutual encounters between these teams have gone through significant fluctuations in recent years. After a period when Everton dominated (four wins from five matches between December 2020 and February 2023), Arsenal has now taken the reins, remaining unbeaten against the Toffees in the last four duels. The December meeting in London ended in a goalless draw, which means that if Arsenal were to keep a clean sheet again, they would achieve this in both season matches against Everton for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Interestingly, if neither team were to score this time,...
