Will Pep Guardiola's Side Make It Three Consecutive Premier League Wins?

We look ahead to Saturday's clash with our Manchester City vs Everton prediction and preview.

MANCHESTER CITY VS EVERTON: THE KEY STATS

CITY SEEKING TO CONTINUE WINNING RUN

Manchester City will be hoping to pick up where they left off after the international break when they host Everton on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's side headed into the pause for international football with back-to-back Premier League wins over Burnley and Brentford lifting them to fifth in the table.

In fact City are averaging more points-per-game in the competition than any other side (2.04 – 53 in 26) this year. They are also the league's top scorers in 2025 (55 goals) and have managed the joint-most wins (16 level with Liverpool).

HAALAND'S INCREDIBLE FORM

Central to those strong attacking showings has again been Erling Haaland who has scored nine goals in City's seven Premier League games this campaign. A goal on Saturday would make this only the third instance of a player reaching 10+ goals in a side's first eight games of a season in the competition.

Haaland is already responsible for the first two (sixth game in 2022-23 fifth game in 2024-25) and the City talisman is already three clear of in-form Antoine Semenyo in the early running for the Premier League's Golden Boot.

The scoring form of Haaland has not changed but Guardiola's tactics may have. City are averaging 57.6% possession and making 541 passes per game in the 2025-26 competition. These are the lowest figures by a Guardiola side in any of the Spaniard's seasons as a top-flight manager with Barcelona Bayern Munich and the Citizens.

THE RODRI PROBLEM

That change in setup could have been forced by the in-and-out absence of Rodri who again limped off against Brentford. The Spanish midfielder is expected to be out until the end of this month with a troublesome thigh issue.

Man City have lost 14 of their 48 league matches without Rodri featuring since the start of 2021-22 picking up 1.8 points-per-game. That is in stark contrast to when he has featured suffering just eight defeats in 111 games and averaging 2.4 points per game.

Regardless of an apparent change in plan City have won seven of their last eight Premier League home games losing the other 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur in August. Guardiola's men have won their last two at the Etihad Stadium by a 3+ goal margin last doing so three times in a row in May 2024.

EVERTON'S UPTURN IN FORM

Though Everton and David Moyes' record against City is woeful which we will delve into shortly the Toffees have won six of their last 10 league games (2 draws 2 losses). That is as many as they had managed in their previous 27 beforehand (13 draws 8 losses).

Everton have also won four of their last seven away league matches (3 losses) after having only won three of their previous 26 prior to this (10 draws 13 losses).

MOYES' MISERY AT THE ETIHAD

However Moyes has lost each of his last eight Premier League away games against City across spells with Manchester United (1) Sunderland (1) and West Ham United (6). He last avoided defeat at the Etihad with Everton in his first spell in December 2012.

Only against Liverpool (ongoing run of 10) has Moyes ever endured a longer losing run away from home against any side in the competition and his record on the road against supposedly superior teams is far from flattering.

Indeed Everton have never won a Premier League away game under Moyes against a side that finished the previous season in the division's top three (36 games 12 draws 24 losses). The Scot has won just one of 58 such games overall with all his clubs (14 draws 43 losses) overcoming Arsenal 2-0 with West Ham in December 2023.

INJURIES AND ABSENCES

The Everton boss will at least hope his plight is boosted by returns for Jarrad Branthwaite and Merlin Röhl from injury. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is available again after serving a one-match suspension but Michael Keane is a doubt after suffering a rib injury against Palace while loanee Jack Grealish will be unavailable against his parent club.

Guardiola could also welcome back a trio of returning players with Omar Marmoush Rayan Aït-Nouri and Abdukodir Khusanov nearing a comeback from their respective injuries. Rodri is the only confirmed absentee heading into Saturday.

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD

Everton have not won any of their last 14 away Premier League games against Manchester City (6 draws 8 losses) since a 2-1 victory in December 2010 during Moyes' first spell in charge.

That makes for concerning reading considering only at Man Utd (20) Liverpool (20) Arsenal (24) and Chelsea (30) have they ever had longer winless away runs in the competition.

City are unbeaten in their last 16 Premier League meetings overall with Everton (13 wins 3 draws) since a 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park in January 2017.

Fulham (20) West Brom (19) and West Ham (19) are the only sides that City are currently on a longer unbeaten run against in the competition.

MANCHESTER CITY VS EVERTON PREDICTION

The Opta supercomputer struggled to see anything other than a home win as Manchester City claimed all three points in 65.9% of 10,000 pre-match simulations.

Everton were afforded just a 15.6% chance of victory while the draw was rated at 18.5% in the data-led sims.
