Chicago prepares for UFC's return after six years with one of the most anticipated title fights of the year. In the main event of the evening, South African middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis will face undefeated Khamzat Chimaev in a clash of two fighters with perfect records in the UFC octagon.

Clash of undefeated legends

Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) enters his third title defense as the only South African champion in UFC history. He exceeded all expectations by successively defeating former champions Whittaker, Strickland and Adesanya. He is celebrated for his tireless endurance and ability to dominate in the late rounds of five-round fights.

Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) represents an undefeated phenomenon who crushes opponents in record time. In his last fight, he finished former champion Robert Whittaker with a submission in the first round, with the Australian managing to land only two strikes. For the Russian fighter, this is his first chance to win a UFC title.

Expert predictions

Experts are divided in their forecasts. ESPN's Harvey Leonard notes: "Until we actually see Chimaev's apparent cardio improvement pay dividends in championship rounds, it seems safer to pick the tireless five-round fighter like Du Plessis."

Most experts predict Du Plessis victory in the later rounds due to his proven endurance in long fights.

Star-studded co-main event

Aaron Pico makes his UFC debut against undefeated Lerone Murphy in the featherweight division. Former Bellator star Pico has the opportunity to succeed where others surprisingly failed, while Murphy with the longest winning streak in the division (8 fights) could advance to a title shot.
