The penultimate stop of the FedEx Cup playoffs returns to the iconic course after four years. The BMW Championship 2025 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland promises thrilling entertainment, where advancement to the final Tour Championship will be decided.

Monumental course with new challenges

Caves Valley has transformed significantly since the last BMW Championship in 2021. The course designed by Tom Fazio has been extended to an impressive 7,601 yards - the longest on the PGA Tour since 2015. Surprisingly, the par has also been reduced from 72 to 70, which experts believe will lead to another birdie festival despite the increased length.

Patrick Cantlay triumphed here in 2021 with an incredible score of 27 under par. Although such numbers won't be repeated this year, the course will still offer plenty of scoring opportunities.

No-compromise format

Only the top 50 players from the FedEx Cup standings will compete. Without a cut, all will battle for four full days, with only the top 30 advancing to the Tour Championship. This exclusivity makes the BMW Championship one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season.

Key statistics for success

Experts emphasize the importance of precise approach shots. In this category over the last 24 rounds, Scottie Scheffler leads (1.50), followed by Hideki Matsuyama (1.24) and Kurt Kitayama (1.15). World number one Scheffler is also the FedEx Cup leader and biggest tournament favorite.

Star-studded field

The field features the world's best golfers, including the anticipated return of Rory McIlroy after missing the first playoff tournament. Defending champion Keegan Bradley will watch the tournament as captain of the 2025 US Ryder Cup team.
