Sportivo Luqueño - Atlético Grau

Estadio Feliciano Cáceres, Luque, Paraguay

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Paraguayan Sportivo Luqueño will face Peruvian Atlético Grau in the Copa Sudamericana. The match offers a clash of different playing styles and interesting statistical curiosities.

Sportivo Luqueño will welcome a Peruvian team in continental competitions for the first time in history. The "Auriazul" has already defeated clubs from eight of the 10 CONMEBOL countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Venezuela). The Paraguayan side now has an opportunity to add Peru to its list and expand its collection of international scalps.

After remaining unbeaten in consecutive CONMEBOL competition matches for the first time, thanks to a 0-0 draw with Grêmio in the last round of the Sudamericana, Atlético Grau will look to play consecutive matches without conceding a goal for the first time in its tournament history. The Peruvian team can thus create a new club milestone.

Only Mushuc Runa (31%) has a higher proportion of long passes in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage than Atlético Grau (24%). Along with Cerro Largo (22%), they are the only three teams that exceed 20% in this category. This statistic points to the more direct playing style of the Peruvian side.

Atlético Grau's goal kicks average 23 meters in distance - the third lowest mark of any team in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage. Only Fluminense (21m) and Atlético Mineiro (17m) take shorter goal kicks in this phase of the competition. This data suggests that the visitors prefer short build-up play even from goal kicks.

Neri Bandiera is Atlético Grau's top scorer in 2025, considering both CONMEBOL Sudamericana and Peru's Liga1 (4 goals – double that of any other teammate). The Argentine forward thus represents the main offensive threat for the visiting team.

Tuesday's duel in the city of Luque promises an interesting confrontation between a home team eager to add a Peruvian scalp to its collection and a visiting side trying to maintain its newly found defensive stability.
