On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Venezuelan Puerto Cabello will face Peruvian Melgar in the Copa Sudamericana. The clash between teams with different ambitions promises an interesting confrontation and the possibility of extending several remarkable streaks.

Melgar has already defeated Puerto Cabello in this edition of the Sudamericana (1-0 at home) and will seek to win consecutive games against Venezuelan teams for the first time in CONMEBOL competitions, after nine previous direct encounters. The Peruvian side thus has an opportunity to achieve its small milestone.

Puerto Cabello is experiencing its longest unbeaten streak as a home team in CONMEBOL competitions after avoiding defeat in their three most recent matches (2 wins, 1 draw). Now, the Venezuelans will aim for their first consecutive home victories at the continental level.

Puerto Cabello is one of three teams that have scored more than one goal in the group phase of the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana after recovering the ball in the final 30% of the field. They scored two, the same mark as Palestino and Grêmio. This statistic points to the Venezuelan side's effectiveness in quick counterattacks after high pressing.

Puerto Cabello is the team that has scored the most goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana (3). This statistic suggests that the home team can effectively use the halftime break for tactical adjustments.

Leonel González from Melgar is the player with the most long ball carries (10+ meters) in the group stage of the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana (59). The Peruvian midfielder thus represents the main creative force of the visiting team, which will be key to breaking Puerto Cabello's home invincibility.

Tuesday's duel in the Venezuelan port city thus promises an interesting clash between a home team with growing confidence on their own pitch and a visiting team that is seeking its first series of victories against Venezuelan opponents.
