On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Flamengo will face Bahia in the Brazilian Série A. The clash between offensively oriented teams promises an interesting confrontation and a possible equaling of a historic record in Brazil's top flight.

Flamengo comes into the match with an impressive record of nine consecutive victories against Bahia in the Brazilian Série A, a streak that began in the second half of the 2019 season. If the traditional club from Rio de Janeiro defeats the "Esquadrão" again, it will equal the first division record for consecutive wins against the same opponent (10 consecutive victories by Cruzeiro over Goiás between 2009 and 2019).

Flamengo's current form is stunning, especially at home. On the other hand, Bahia comes into the match with three consecutive victories in Série A. The "Esquadrão" has not won four games in a row in the top division since 1991, when they successively defeated Náutico, Cruzeiro, Santos, and Sport.

Flamengo's offensive power is also supported by analytical data. The team has created chances to score 12 goals in the 2025 Brazilian Série A according to Opta's expected goals (xG) model, while allowing opponents only 3 expected goals. The positive difference of 9 xG is the highest in the competition, with a 4 xG advantage over the nearest competitor (Palmeiras with +5 xG).

Flamengo and Bahia are the two teams that have created the most constructed attacks in the 2025 Brazilian Série A so far: 33 and 24, respectively. Both teams were also among the top three in this category in the 2024 edition (100 for Bahia, 93 for Flamengo).

Saturday's duel at the legendary Maracanã stadium will thus be not only a battle for points in the table but also for historic milestones and confirmation of the offensive dominance of both teams in Brazil's highest competition.
