On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Uruguayan Racing will face Brazilian Corinthians in the Copa Sudamericana. The clash between teams with different playing styles promises an interesting confrontation and the possibility of extending several remarkable streaks.

Corinthians has won four of the five matches it has played against Racing in CONMEBOL competitions (1 draw), although in their last visit to the Uruguayan team in the Sudamericana they failed to secure a victory (1-1 in the group stage in 2024). Corinthians is the team that has recorded the most sequences with 10 or more passes in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage (48, one more than second-place Atlético Mineiro). This statistic points to the combinational playing style of the Brazilian side and their ability to maintain possession.

Gastón Bueno is the Racing player with the most clearances (29) and interceptions (8) in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage, with the latter being the second-highest record in the entire competition at this stage, along with six other athletes. The Uruguayan midfielder thus represents a key defensive element for the home team.

Ángel Romero has scored one of Corinthians' four goals in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana and has four in total for the team, making him the second-highest scorer for the Brazilian club in this competition. The Paraguayan ranks third in the number of matches played for "Timão" in the tournament (26). The experienced forward thus represents the main offensive threat for the visiting team.

Thursday's duel in Montevideo promises an interesting confrontation between a home team relying on the defensive qualities of Gastón Bueno and a visiting side with an excellent record in Uruguay and a combinational style of play.
