Atlético Mineiro - Caracas FC

Estádio Mineirão, Belo Horizonte, Brazil

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Brazilian Atlético Mineiro will face Venezuelan Caracas in the Copa Sudamericana. The clash between teams with remarkable statistical trends promises an interesting confrontation and the possibility of extending several impressive streaks.

Atlético Mineiro has won each of the six home matches it has played against teams from Venezuela in CONMEBOL tournaments. The "Galo" maintains a 100% success rate against clubs from four different countries in these competitions when playing at home, including Peru (4 wins), Ecuador (4 wins), and Chile (7 wins). The Brazilian side thus has an excellent record against South American opponents at their stadium.

Atlético Mineiro and Caracas drew 1-1 in their last encounter in the 2025 Sudamericana. The only instance when the "Rojo" remained unbeaten in more than one match against Brazilian opponents in a single edition of a CONMEBOL tournament was in the 2009 Libertadores (two draws against Grêmio). The Venezuelan team thus has an opportunity to create a new club milestone.

Atlético Mineiro is the team that has shot the most times in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage after a high turnover (first 30 meters in the opponent's half), with eight. One of these shots ended in a goal. The Brazilian side thus excels in pressing and its effective utilization.

Caracas has scored two goals from outside the penalty area in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage, making it one of the leaders in this aspect along with Defensa y Justicia, Lanús, Once Caldas, Fluminense, Palestino, Mushuc Runa, Huracán, and Universidad Católica. The Venezuelan team thus presents a threat even from medium distance.

Atlético Mineiro has scored seven goals so far in the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana, surpassing the goal tally of eight of their previous nine participations in the cup. Their highest count comes from the 2020 edition, when they scored 12 goals. The home team thus demonstrates greater offensive power than in the past.

Thursday's duel at Mineirão Stadium promises an interesting confrontation between a home team with a perfect record against Venezuelan opponents and strong pressing, and a visiting team trying to confirm their point gain from the first mutual match and relying on shots from medium distance.
