On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Atlético Madrid will face Real Sociedad in Spanish LaLiga. The Madrid side enters the match as a clear favorite, while the visitors from San Sebastián are struggling with a results crisis.

Atlético de Madrid have not lost any of their last 10 LaLiga matches against Real Sociedad (6 wins, 4 draws), since a 0-2 defeat in September 2019. This is their longest unbeaten run against the Basque team in the competition since April 1976 (13 games: 8 wins, 5 draws).

The Basques have not completed a league season without an away defeat against Madrid teams since the 2002/03 campaign (3 games: 1 win, 2 draws).

Atlético Madrid's home form is one of the main reasons for their success this season. The Madrid team has suffered just one defeat in 17 home games in LaLiga 2024/25 (12 wins, 4 draws), 2-4 against Barcelona in March, and has scored at least two goals in each of their last three home appearances.

In contrast, Real Sociedad has been struggling recently. The Basque team has not won any of their last four LaLiga games (2 draws, 2 losses) and has failed to score in their last two matches. They last recorded a longer streak without a win (5+ games) and without scoring (3+ games) in the competition in September 2024 (5 games: 2 draws, 3 losses, four games in a row without scoring).

Atlético de Madrid have kept 21 clean sheets in all competitions this season, more than any other LaLiga team this season, with the most clean sheets in the league (15).

Saturday's clash pits the team that has collected the most points from losing positions in LaLiga this season (Atlético de Madrid, 23) against the team that has collected the fewest (Real Sociedad, 3).

Alexander Sørloth has scored nine goals in 15 home games in the 2024/25 LaLiga season, a tally not surpassed by any Atlético de Madrid player in a single campaign in the competition since Luis Suárez's 14 goals in 16 home games in 2020/21.

Mikel Oyarzábal has scored four of Real Sociedad's last seven LaLiga goals, though he has only managed one goal in 12 games against Atlético de Madrid in the competition (October 2023 at the Metropolitano stadium). In this match, he could suffer his 100th defeat in the competition (311 games: 137 wins, 75 draws, 99 losses).

Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil has suffered seven LaLiga defeats against Atlético de Madrid manager Diego Simeone (13 games: 2 wins, 4 draws), more than against any other manager in the competition, and he has also conceded the most goals against him (19).
