Club Atlético de Madrid - Real Valladolid
April 14th, 2025
Monday evening will offer a clash of absolute opposites in the Spanish capital. Atlético Madrid will welcome Real Valladolid at the Metropolitano stadium in a duel where both history and current form speak clearly in favor of the home team.
Atlético hasn't lost any of their last 15 matches against Real Valladolid in LaLiga, winning 14 of them (1 draw). Previously, however, the "Colchoneros" lost four of seven mutual duels (2 wins, 1 draw).
The home environment is almost a guarantee of victory for Atlético against Valladolid. The Madrid team has won the last seven home matches against this opponent in LaLiga, keeping a clean sheet in each of the last five. Only against UD Las Palmas (6) do they currently have a longer series of home matches without conceding a goal in the competition.
Real Valladolid is going through a results crisis in the Madrid region. The "Pucelanos" have lost in their last six visits to teams from Comunidad de Madrid in LaLiga, failing to score in five of them. In this century, they have not yet experienced a series of seven or more consecutive defeats against Madrid teams.
Monday is a lucky day for the home team. Atlético Madrid hasn't lost any of their last 10 matches played on Monday in LaLiga (7 wins, 3 draws), while Real Valladolid has lost their last four away matches played on this day.
Diego Simeone's men are specialists in decisive goals in the last minute. Atlético has scored five winning goals after the 90th minute this season in LaLiga, which is at least two more than any other team in the competition (3 each for Mallorca and Villarreal).
Valladolid has significant problems with defense. After 30 matches in LaLiga 2024-25, they have already conceded 69 goals, equaling the highest total for a team at this stage of a season in the competition in the 21st century, along with Osasuna in the 2016-17 season.
Atlético Madrid is the team that has gained the most points from losing positions in the five major European leagues this season (20), their highest figure in a LaLiga campaign since at least the 2010-11 season.
Only Robert Lewandowski (9) has opened the scoring in LaLiga 2024-25 more times than Atlético Madrid forward Julian Alvarez (8, equal with Kylian Mbappé).
Juanmi Latasa has scored Real Valladolid's last three goals in LaLiga. The last player to score four consecutive goals for this club in the competition was Javi Guerra in December 2013.
Álvaro Rubio is set to coach his first match in LaLiga against Atlético Madrid. The last Real Valladolid coach to avoid defeat in his first match in the competition against the "Los Rojiblancos" was Fernando Vázquez in November 2003 (3-1 win).
