KING OF AWAY PITCHES KLUIVERT ATTACKS RECORD! BOURNEMOUTH AIMS FOR ANOTHER 1-1 DRAW IN LONDON

West Ham United – Bournemouth

April 5th, 2025

London Stadium hosts a battle between two teams with opposing trends in home and away environments. West Ham has been struggling at their stadium recently, while Bournemouth is experiencing their historically best away season ever.

The Hammers have lost three of their last four home Premier League matches, failing to score a single goal in each defeat. In total, they have drawn a blank at home six times this season, their worst record since the 2018-19 campaign. The last time they struggled to score goals at home more frequently was in the 2008-09 season, when they failed to find the net in eight cases.

At the other end of the spectrum are Bournemouth's away performances. The Cherries have already collected a record 23 points on away grounds this season and, with 30 goals scored, have also broken their previous record in the top flight. Moreover, Bournemouth is a team that never experiences boring away matches - 67 consecutive duels on opponents' grounds have not ended in a goalless draw, which is the third-longest such streak in Premier League history.

Recent head-to-head encounters have favored the London side. West Ham is unbeaten against Bournemouth in their last seven league matches, although the last three have all ended in identical 1-1 draws. Interestingly, the Cherries have never managed to keep a clean sheet at West Ham, but when they have managed to score themselves, they have always taken at least a point (2 wins, 2 draws).

A key factor in Saturday's match will be which team scores the first goal. West Ham has won all five matches at home this season when they scored first. On the other hand, when they conceded first, they lost eight out of nine duels.

Graham Potter's men are struggling with a lack of shooting opportunities at home. At London Stadium, they face an average of 15.3 opponent shots per match, the most since the 2013-14 season when they still played at Upton Park. Only in two home matches this season have they managed to produce more shots than their opponent (against Ipswich and Chelsea), which is the fewest of all Premier League teams.

However, Hammers coach Graham Potter has an excellent record against Bournemouth. He has won both of his home Premier League matches against the Cherries, once with Brighton (2019) and once with Chelsea (2022). Only Marco Silva has managed to beat Bournemouth with more different clubs in the top flight.

The home side will be hoping for a return to scoring form for Jarrod Bowen. The English forward is going through an unusual scoring drought at London Stadium - after a series of three goals and two assists in five home matches between October and December, he has now recorded neither a goal nor an assist in five consecutive home duels. He is experiencing such a long wait for home goal involvement for the first time in his career.

In contrast, Bournemouth's Justin Kluivert is in excellent form on foreign turf. The Dutch forward has contributed to 14 goals in 14 away Premier League matches this season (10 goals, 4 assists), matching Callum Wilson's club record from the 2018-19 season. Moreover, Kluivert has managed to score in six consecutive away matches (6 goals, 3 assists).
