BATTLE OF HISTORICALLY STRUGGLING SIDES: BUDĚJOVICE HOST BOLESLAV IN RELEGATION FIGHT

SK Dynamo České Budějovice - FK Mladá Boleslav

Saturday's clash between České Budějovice and Mladá Boleslav features two teams experiencing historically poor seasons in the Czech top flight. Both sides will enter the relegation round with alarming statistics and a desperate need for points.

Dynamo České Budějovice are enduring an unprecedented crisis. They are the only team in the history of the independent Czech league to fail to win a single match in the regular season. With just 5 points, the South Bohemian side has the worst record in the competition's history – for comparison, previous record-holders Dukla Prague in 1993-94 and Lázně Bohdaneč in 1997-98 had at least 11 points at this stage. Just like last season, Dynamo enters the relegation round from the last position, though back then they had 24 points and were just one point behind their closest rival.

Mladá Boleslav is also struggling, having lost their last seven league matches, which marks their longest losing streak in Czech top-flight history. The Central Bohemian side is the second team this season to record seven consecutive defeats, following České Budějovice, which reached a "black series" of eight straight losses in March, most recently falling 0-2 in Liberec.

Mladá Boleslav has matched their unflattering record for most defeats after 30 matchdays (14, the same as in seasons 2017-18, 2020-21, and 2021-22). With 34 points, they also have their lowest tally since the 2020-21 season, when they had 30 at this stage. Boleslav will play in the relegation round for the first time in their history, despite having won eight of their last nine league matches against Budějovice (1 draw).

The offensive struggles of both teams are extreme. České Budějovice failed to score in their last league match against Sigma Olomouc and have now gone goalless in twenty matches this season. In the TOP 10 European competitions, no team has more than 17 such games (Pardubice, Lecce, and Montpellier have 17 each), and only Příbram had the same number of goalless matches at this stage of a Czech league campaign (2019-20).

Mladá Boleslav has failed to score in their last three league games, and their top scorer Matyáš Vojta (8 goals) is goalless in five consecutive games for the first time this season. However, Vojta has scored four of Mladá Boleslav's nine goals in 2025, with no other player having as high an involvement rate as Vojta at Boleslav (44.4%) after the winter break.
