RECORD-BREAKER HANUŠ FACES ATTACKING AVALANCHE FROM OLOMOUC
FK Jablonec – SK Sigma Olomouc
March 29th, 2025
The North Bohemians are experiencing a crisis period. After their February unbeaten run, they received a cold shower in the form of a defeat against Slavia and a total of three games without a win. Jablonec fans have been waiting for their team to score for more than 180 minutes. Nevertheless, they can be satisfied with the offensive production this season – the 44 goals scored by the end of March have been surpassed only four times in club history.
The Hanáks arrive in Jablonec in good spirits. Sigma is among the most offensively consistent teams in the competition, having scored in 85% of their matches. Olomouc has failed to score only four times, which is their best record since the 2003/04 season. With 40 goals scored, they are also continuing their successful 2022/23 season form.
Jablonec's weapon in the spring part of the season has been lightning raids. Látal's men have been converting quick counterattacks into goals more often than any other team in the league. The North Bohemians have recorded 16 direct attacks since the winter break – actions starting behind the halfway line with a direct approach toward the opponent's goal – three of which have ended in goals.
Attention will be focused on Hanuš's reaction after his catastrophic performance against Slavia. The experienced goalkeeper recorded a black hat-trick, causing a goal after an error, conceding a penalty, and scoring an own goal in a single match. According to OPTA statistics, such a "performance" has never happened before in the Czech league, and in top European leagues, it was only achieved by Spanish goalkeeper Mora in Valencia's colors almost 18 years ago.
The home team will rely on the excellently functioning cooperation between Zorvan and Kliment. This duo has already contributed to five goals together, making them the most productive tandem in the entire competition. Zorvan, with a total of nine assists (including a record five from set pieces), shares first place with Slavia's national team player Provod.
We thank OPTA for providing the statistical data.
